Addressing long-standing legacy issues, the leadership of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited, led by Engr Jennifer Adighije (FNSE, FCIML, FNIEEE) has successfully initiated the recovery of 110 abandoned containers and 216 packages of critical power equipment that had remained at Nigerian ports for nearly a decade.

Originally procured by EPC contractors as far back as 2007 for power plant projects, the equipment became stranded due to contractual and litigation-related challenges. Recognizing the strategic value of these assets, the current management prioritized asset recovery, debt resolution, and the restoration of dormant capacity.

Through strong collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service and the support of the Controller-General of Customs, NDPHC secured the necessary waivers to recover the equipment worth millions of dollars that will now be deployed toward completing ongoing power projects.

The recovery effort remains ongoing, reinforcing the company’s commitment to accountability, value optimization, and strengthening Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
